Halloween tips
(Time to start work on holiday plan)

Whether you are looking forward to the next couple of months with anticipation or dread, it's time to start working on your holiday plan.

First up is candy day (otherwise known as Halloween).

Don't buy any candy until the day of or day before Halloween.  It's on a Saturday this year so it should be fairly simple to set aside some time to get candy.  Remember, it's often on sale at that point for as much as 50% off so you'll likely save some money as well. 

Buy only stuff you don't like, or that you can leave alone.  Save the receipt.

Open the candy one bag at a time.  If there are any whole bags left over, return them ASAP.

Now, what to do with all the treats your little ghosts and goblins bring back home?

They don't need that stuff any more than you do.  Go through all of it and have them pick out 10 to 25 pieces each.  Put those in a bag with their name on it.  This is their candy and they will likely keep close track of what they have left.  This should create some accountability to help you keep your hands off.

Set aside a piece or two for yourself.

Dump the rest of the candy, including any left in opened bags, and get rid of it.  Take it to work, give it to your church, give it to the neighbors, put it in the trash if you have to, but make sure it's gone by Monday.

Now, over the next week, set aside a little quiet time when you can enjoy a piece of candy for yourself.  Halloween has lots of non-food aspects to enjoy, focus on them and have fun.
